Mittwoch, 21. März 2001 / 14:34 Uhr

Zurich – Throughout Switzerland, children must attend school for a mandatory 9 years. Despite this country-wide regulation, there is still a huge difference in the number of school hours from canton to canton.

In canton Graubünden, for example, schoolchildren must complete 8,800 hours in the classroom. While their peers in canton Geneva only have to complete just under 7,200 hours. According to the Swiss Teacher's Association, the discrepancy of around 1,600 hours is equal to two years of school. (news.ch)
