Los Angeles - Britain's Prince Andrew presented a British film award to director Steven Spielberg at a black tie gala in Los Angeles.
Spielberg on Saturday night received the 10th Annual Britannia Award, renamed the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award last year, at the annual awards ceremony of the Los Angeles branch of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. The award honors extraordinary contributions to film.
Actresses Glynis Johns, Jean Simmons and Lynn Redgrave were among the celebrities on hand for the presentation at the ritzy Century Plaza hotel in west Los Angeles.
Brenda Blethyn served as master of ceremonies, actor Pierce Brosnan arrived with "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Keely Shaye Smith, and actor Ben Kingsley arrived with Caroline Goodall.
Prince Andrew's appearance at the ceremony capped a three-day Los Angeles visit aimed at expanding business and technology links between England and the United States.
He also inspected strike fighters at Edwards Air Force Base, toured the Walt Disney Concert Hall under construction in downtown Los Angeles and attended the opening of the Beverly Hills headquarters of a telecommunications company.
