Bern – Through a nation-wide donation fund, the people of Switzerland have already donated over 5 million Swiss francs to victims of the earthquake in India. Five partner organisations to the national chain of relief organisations have thus far contributed SFr. 1.5 million for immediate emergency relief.

With this money, the local government in the Indian Federal state of Gujarat has said it will erect tent cities for the survivors of the recent earthquake. The temporary tent cities will be equipped by medical supplies, schools, shops and markets, said the building minister. (sda)
